About GhATSEA
Get To know Us
GhATSEA, then known as Aeronautical Telecommunications Technicians Association (ATTA), was founded in 1976 and its members were engineers and technicians of the Aeronautical Telecommunication Section of Department of Civil Aviation in Ghana, now Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
In November 2004, the newly enacted Civil Aviation Act 678, mandated GCAA to cede the airport management functions to a new company, the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), which was set up for this purpose. GCAA was to ficus its core regulatory role with the proviso of air navigation services. Notwithstanding, the decoupling exercise, GhATSEA remains the association for all the Electronic Personnel in both organizations though under different Managements.
Who we are
GhATSEA members are thus Air Traffic Safety Electronic Personnel (ATSEP) who play a significant role in the safe operations of CNS/ATM and passenger facilitation systems in the airports in Ghana. Their principal duties include: equipment specifications, procurement, installation, commissioning and de-commissionong. ATSEPs also perform corrective and preventive maintenance, calibration, flight testing and certification of all ground CNS equipment and Meteorological Information Systems used for the Air Traffic Control (ATC) and training of Air Traffic Management (ATM) technical staff.
